School Day

School Opening Times

The school doors open at 8.30am.  All children enter school via their classroom door that opens onto the playground.  Parents coming into school from the playground are asked to leave prams outside as the cloakroom areas are very small.

Children will not be allowed to bring sweets into school, but may have fruit at playtime.  All children are also asked to bring in a bottle of fresh water each day in a pull up stopper bottle.  This enables children to drink throughout the day, but must be water only.

School Holidays

A letter will be sent to Parents at the beginning of each school year outlining the school holiday dates, as well as the main events for the year.  Reminders will also be sent nearer the appropriate time. See also under Documents, Term Dates.

Clubs

Children are encouraged to join an exciting range of extra curricular activities.  Further details will be available at the beginning of terms 1, 3 and 5.

Travelling to school

Children are encouraged to walk or cycle to school with an adult and wear appropriate safety gear. Children may leave bikes and scooters in the bike shelter provided on the school playground.

Car Parking

If parents need to bring and collect children by car please be aware of parking restrictions. For the safety of the children arriving and leaving school, please do not stop cars on the bend near the playground gate.  The school car park is for staff only.

Absence from School

Anyone requesting a family holiday during term time will be asked to obtain a leave of absence form from the office and arrange an appointment with Mr Henstridge to discuss. The Headteacher and Governing Body actively discourage holiday during term time.

If your child is ill please keep him/her at home until he/she is fully recovered.  The school has a computerised attendance system and it is essential that all absence is supported by a note or telephone call.  Any unexplained absence will be termed as ‘unauthorised’.

If your child needs to leave the school during the school hours, to visit the dentist, for example, then she/he must be collected, or a note must be sent giving your permission for the child to go home alone.  If your child is going home for lunch, just for the odd day, a note must be sent into school that morning, giving your permission.

The need for notes/phone calls for all the above situations are solely in the interests of child safety.

School Dinners

A choice of hot meals, jacket potatoes or sandwiches (summer term) are provided by the kitchen.  Payment for school meal choices should always be sent to the school office by 9am on a Tuesday for meals required the following week. Please send on a lunch form provided on our weekly newsletter and send in a named envelope. A school meal currently costs £2.15 per day.  If you think your child qualifies for a free school lunch the relevant form can be obtained from the school office.
