Our School Council helps to make Peatmoor an even better place to learn and grow. It gives children the chance to share their ideas, voice their opinions, and play an active role in school life.
The Council meets at least once each term to discuss issues that matter to the children. Where possible, suggestions are put into action to improve our school.
Our School Council is made up of two representatives from every class, from Year 1 to Year 6.
At the start of the year, we hold an introductory meeting so everyone can get to know each other. All representatives receive a badge to wear proudly throughout the year.
Each class has a suggestion box, created by the representatives, where pupils can share ideas or concerns. These are discussed at our meetings and help shape improvements such as playground equipment, new club ideas, or suggestions for the lunch menu.
Year 6 representatives also meet with Mrs Matthews to share the Council’s ideas and explore what changes can be made.
School Councillors sometimes take on extra responsibilities within the community—for example, creating Christmas cards for a local care home.
